Small Male Italian Ceramic Head Vase

Blending Italian tradition with modern design, this sculpture vase encapsulates the legendary symbol of Sicily portraying the face of a Moorish gentleman who fell in love with a young woman who, on finding out he was married, cut off his head and used it as a vase for buds of basil, watering them with her own tears. The heady scent inspired her neighbours to commission ceramic vases with the same features as the Moor's head.

This crowned head-shaped vase is handmade from porcelain ceramic with a refreshing mozzarella-white glaze. Handpicked by founder Lexi for her own wedding decor, this decorative vase of a bust looks best when overflowing with peach pink peonies or branches from Sicilian lemon trees. Treasure it as a standalone vase or display as a pair with his tormented beau to honour the legacy of Sicily.
