Although they look like antique French wine goblets, these are actually designed specifically for use with absinthe and are exact copies of a 19th century design found in bars and bistros all over France. The low reservoir section of the glass was used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added, assisting the bartender in pouring the right amount while ensuring the customer knew they were receiving exactly what they'd paid for.
