Although they look like antique French champagne glasses (and could certainly be used for champagne), these are specially designed for use with absinthe and are exact copies for a 19th century design found in bars and bistros all over France. The low reservoir section of the glass was used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added, assisting the bartender in pouring the right amount while ensuring the customer knew they were receiving exactly what they'd paid for.
This set of two absinthe glasses are an ideal gift packaged in a large black box complete with silver foil embossed lettering inspired by advertising of the Belle Epoque era.
